A mobile phone is never far from hand. Members can now pay with Interac® Flash on Android* phones! Be the first of credit union members in Alberta to take advantage of this feature.

Mobile Pay allows you to make payments with a tap of your phone. No physical MemberCard needed!

  • It’s easy. Download the app, load your MemberCard, choose a passcode, and you’re ready.
  • It’s fast. Look for retailers that display the Interac Flash logo – it only takes a click or two to pay.
  • It’s secure. Feel confident when you purchase with passcode verification, transaction limits and zero customer liability.

Follow the steps below to get started.

  1. Download the latest First Calgary Financial Mobile Banking App (if you haven’t already!) onto your Android* phone.
  2. Tap on the Mobile Pay feature on the Mobile App homepage.

  3. Select the debit card you’d like to activate Mobile Pay for from the list shown.
  4. Set a passcode to use for Mobile Pay.
  5. Select your preferred security options and tap SAVE.
  6. Review your settings and account details, and tap DONE.
  7. Your Android phone now has Mobile Pay activated on it!

How to use it once installed.

Use Mobile Pay at any retailer that has Interac® Flash. Psst, its nickname is “tap”. Simply hold your unlocked Android phone near payment pad, follow the instructions on the screen and wait for the purchase to be approved. The app makes secure and instant transactions, and updates your account immediately.

For purchases over $100, you’ll be asked to enter your Mobile Pay passcode. From time to time, you may also be asked for the passcode. It’s a little extra security for your benefit.

Is Mobile Pay Secure?
Mobile Pay builds on the security of Interac Flash contactless chip debit technology, using state-of-the-art encryption and tokenization. It offers strong consumer protections such as transaction limits and passcode verification, and is backed by the Interac Zero Liability Policy. For even more security, you may choose to require a Passcode for all purchases – this option is available in your First Calgary Financial mobile app Settings.

Does my phone support Mobile Pay?
Android phones 4.4 and above come equipped with NFC technology, making them eligible for Mobile Pay. You will need to have the latest version of the First Calgary Financial App active on your phone. Major Android handsets including Samsung Galaxy S4 / S5 / S6 / Edge, Google Nexus 5 / 6 and HTC One are just a few of the phones that are eligible for Mobile Pay. Phones that do not support Android - including iPhone, Blackberry and Windows Phones - are not eligible for Mobile Pay.

Will my iPhone work with Mobile Pay?
This technology is not currently available to members using Apple devices. Apple is driving the timing and priority of when and where their mobile pay services rollout, and Canadian Credit Unions are in active discussions with them about what's possible.

Can I use my CUETS MasterCard® with Mobile Pay?
Mobile Pay is being launched first with First Calgary Financial debit card allowing you to make everyday purchases directly from your account. We know that you may prefer to pay with your CUETS MasterCard®, and are working towards supporting this option soon!

Is there a maximum purchase dollar amount?
There is no maximum dollar amount for Mobile Pay purchases. For purchases over $100, you will be required to enter a Passcode. Mobile Pay purchases are subject to the same spending limits that apply to your account.

When will I enter a Passcode?
For purchases over $100, you will be prompted to enter the Passcode that you selected when you set up your App. From time to time, you may also be prompted for a Passcode for additional security. For even more security, you may choose to require a Passcode for all purchases – this option is available in your Settings.

How do I change my Passcode? What if I forget my Passcode?
You can change your Passcode from the Settings within your First Calgary Financial mobile app by entering your old Passcode. If you have forgotten your old Passcode you will be asked a security question. You should choose a 4-12 digit, numeric Passcode that is easy to remember, but avoid numbers that are easy to guess such as 1234 or birthdays.

How do I process a Refund?
Refunds are initiated by the Merchant at their POS terminal, following the same rules as refunds do today. Refunds follow the same process within your Mobile App as purchases do. You will be informed at the end of your purchase within the App whether your Refund was successfully completed. Refunds will be processed immediately to your account.

Is there a cost to use Mobile Pay?
No. Mobile Pay is included with First Calgary Financial mobile app as part of your account. Each Mobile Pay payment will count as an additional transaction, if you pay transaction fees for your account.
